Meet Our Staff
Brace Engineering Inc., consulting structural engineers, brings with it over 65 years combined experience in its two key personnel in the field of structural engineering. Our firm specializes in structural engineering for new construction, renovation and forensic investigation and our services are thorough, complete and economical to the client. Our work is accomplished in compliance with current codes and standards and in accordance with generally accepted engineering principles and practices. We have a great deal of experience in new construction, and renovation projects. Licensed to practice engineering in 15 states including Pennsylvania, California, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia.
Dave Brace – President
Dave Brace is a 38 year veteran at Brace Engineering, Inc. Dave is adept at the many facets of structural engineering, from initial concept and design to project completion. He is proficient in providing his clients with practical design solutions implemented into their time frame and budget. Dave is experienced with RAM structural analysis/design software and he has the knowledge and experience to perform manual calculations to achieve the successful results to meet the individual needs of his client.
Dave has an extensive collection of diverse projects throughout more than three decades of engineering experience. He achieves creative and practical solutions through innovative engineering consultation and design.
After many years of working beside his father, Dave became the president of Brace Engineering, Inc. in 2006 when Frank retired. Dave has greatly contributed to the company’s solid foundation and continued growth.
Dave is an avid golfer and enjoys participating in a variety of other sports including platform tennis in the winter. In the summer months he can be found playing in the dirt on the softball field, a passion he shares with his wife Julie and their three children Jenna, Jeff and Jaime.

Joseph Cherichetti, Jr. – Vice President
Joe Cherichetti has been with Brace Engineering, Inc. since 1981. Joe uses his strong educational background and solid engineering principals to provide his clients with design solutions to fit their requirements.
As the vice president of our firm, Joe has collaborated on a large number of projects, providing strategic solutions through his vast knowledge and desire to meet the needs of his clients.
Joe recently teamed up with other members of the Pittsburgh Chapter of The Society of Engineers as an instructor for the review class for those interested in studying for the exam to obtain their Professional Engineering license.
Joe has a lifetime love of learning and continues to be enriched with educational experiences in his desire to study 6 languages. He enjoys reading and absorbing the cultural aspect that Pittsburgh offers.

Deena Nakles – CADD Administrator
Deena started working part-time as a draftsman for Brace Engineering in 1980 while still in high school and a student at A. W. Beattie Technical School. She began working full-time after graduation and was an integral part of the transition to AutoCAD in 1986. Today she manages the CAD department as well as all in house IT.
She is married and has two grown sons and when not working she enjoys vacationing at the beach and spending time with her grandson.

Julie Brace – Corporate Treasurer/Secretary
Julie Brace takes care of the bookkeeping and secretarial duties for Brace Engineering, Inc. including the variety of activities associated with accounts payable and receivable. Julie has been employed with our company since 2004. She is the friendly voice that you will often hear when you phone our office.
Julie & Dave have been married for 40 years. They have 3 children and one grandchild. In her time away from the office, Julie cherishes time with her family; she enjoys sports, coaching softball and can very often be seen with a camera in her hand.
